Step One:

First draw rough

shapes for her head

and shoulders.

Keep your pencil lines

nice and loose so you

can easily erase any

mistakes.

Step Two:

Next add a little

more detail to

her face.

Play around

with the

placement of her

eyes, nose and

mouth until

you're happy

where they are.

Start adding

the top of her

collar.

Step Three:

Now you can add even

more detail!

She has a detailed

headpiece so take your

time and don't be afraid

to erase any mistakes.

Start drawing her large

eyes, small nose and full

lips. Tighten up your

pencil lines and make the

drawing nice and clean

so you can prepare to

add color. You can even

make copies of your

finished pencil drawing to

practice using different

coloring media.

Step Four:

I add a lot of layers

with my markers

before I'm ready to

ink and highlight

it. First I put down

the grayscale.

Step Five:
I like to color with markers, but you can use anything you want -- crayons, colored pencils, or the computer! After the grayscale, add color. Wait until the markers are completely dry, then go over it with the ink outlines (this is so your ink lines won't run when they touch the wet marker areas). Use a black pen to go around her head, hair, shoulders and all of her facial features. It can be hard to get a nice, smooth line. Practice makes perfect. There is a lot of detail, so be patient and take your time.

When you're done with inking, add some white pencil to lighten up certain areas, and thicker white paint for the final, strong, white highlights -- like the dots in the eyes, for example.
